Voyager is our AI success story for 2010.  The story of the AI was that we were using semen processed in 1983 and while we were inseminating the doe, my son in law’s cell phone rang and the song rang out, “I am free at last!”  It must have been quite a “Voyage” from 1983 to his birth in 2010 – hence the name! Voyager is a linebreeding on his sire Price O The Field Luke to his great granddaughter Snap Dragon.  His sire, POTF Luke sired many champion daughters including SGCH Price O The Field Lady Regina 92EEEE the 1998 National Reserve Champion and Best Udder, 2000 Reserve Best Udder, 2001 Reserve Best Udder and GCH Wingwood Farm Luke Tamaulipas 2*M – the 1999 National Reserve Champion.  His paternal brother CH *B Pruittville’s Doctor Luke 91EEE sired several Champion daughters in our herd.   Voyager’s dam Snap Dragon finished her championship in Little Rock, Arkansas and went on to be the 4th place 3 year old at the 2010 Nationals.   Snap Dragon milks well with long, steady lactations.     So far, what we have seen in his kids is beautiful general appearance that produces that elegant type of animal that we strive for.

Apollo

Apollo is a very correct buck who was 2X Grand at the Spring Show in Conway Ar in 2011 and 2X Grand and Best Buck In Show in Little Rock 2013 and winner of the INBA Nubian Specialty. At that show, he wowed the Judges one of which one exclaimed that he was the most correct buck he had ever seen.  The other Judge said that bucks you just judge them and forget about them but this buck was one he would long remember as being an extremely correct representative of the Nubian breed. Looking at his pedigree is like looking at the “who’s who” of Pruittville breeding as his pedigree is filled with Champion sires and dams with high appraisal scores!  He is the littermate of Pruittville’s Gabriella – the 2010 National Reserve Junior Champion.  Apollo like his sister has excellent breed character and is smoothly blended throughout.  He has width and power and good substance of bone.   He is proving his worth as a valuable sire and has beautiful junior offspring in our herd who have won Junior Champion,  such as Pruittville’s Ginger Snap (Grand); Peaches N Cream (Grand and Reserve Grand), and Sugar Candy.  Sugar Candy was Junior Champion and Best In Show in 2011and was 2X Grand in Little Rock in 2013 finishing her championship and her appraisal score was 90VEEE. Apollo’s dam, SGCH Pruittville’s Honeysuckle 92EEEE was one of our favorite does and was the 2nd place 4 year old at the 08 Nationals.  His paternal Great Grand dam is SGCH Pruittville’s Huckleberry 92EEEE and maternal Grand dam is CH Pruittville’s Magnolia 92EEEE  Please visit his sire and dam’s page under reference pages for more information.

PRUITTVILLE’S STARBUCK

Starbuck is the result of the generosity and kindness of Jan Ham of Owl Ridge Farm.   Jan is the breeder of beautiful Nubians and uses Kastdemur and Pruittville lines similar to ours.   Jan graciously allowed us to breed a doe to one of her Kastdemur herd sires.   We could hardly wait for Razzberry to kid and while we were disappointed in a single birth, we were delighted it was a buck.  Starbuck is a pretty red buck with white splashes.  He is very sharp and dairy with great length of body.  We hope he will pass on his dam’s massive body capacity and also the beautiful mammaries that the Kastdemur lines are famous for.
Thank you Jan!!!

Explorer is a majestic buck one of our valuable herd sires.  In May 2010, Explorer took to the show ring again in Little Rock Arkansas.  He easily topped his class for first place in both rings.  He then won Grand and then Best Buck In Show in both rings.   Explorer is a gentle giant and a pleasure to show.  We now have a junior get from him and I must say they are impressive.  His daughter, Poinsettia easily topped her classes this Spring and placed 10th in the Junior Yearling class at the 2010 National Show and now has matured into a beautiful doe with a lovely mammary. Another daughter, CH Pruittville’s Java Chiller has now been awarded her permanent championship and now is winning Best Of Breed and Best In Show in Champion Challenge.

Explorer is a buck of a similar breeding that we were hoping to get by AI.  Frustrated by failure, we purchased Kastdemur’s Next Expedition.  Our hopes were to bring in some new blood for a little pizzaz and yet keep the style of animals that we love so much.   This was an excellent choice and we have several of Expedition’s daughters in our herd as well as this young man!  His sire, Kastdemur’s Next Expedition has now been sold but we have retained this handsome son of his as one of our  herd sires.   (Please see Expedition’s information on our reference sire’s page.)   Explorer has grown to great size and is very upstanding with an excellent topline and spring of rib.   Explorer’s dam, SGCH Pruittville’s Huckleberry 92EEEE was a tremendous doe who we hope to breed many more like.   Please also visit his full sister, CH Pruittville’s Razzberry’s page who is also one of our beautiful champions.

Triumph’s daughter, Pruittville’s Gabriella 2010 Reserve ADGA National Junior Champion.

Triumph is a large black buck with tan trim and silver ears, Triumph stands with great feet and legs.  He is structurally correct throughout.  Triumph spent his first two years leased out so we don’t have daughters that have freshened as yet  but we sure like what we see.  His offspring are all very correct with good width through-out and good substance of bone.     His daughter, Pruittville’s Gabriella was the 2010 National Reserve Champion.   Triumph has two paternal sisters that are Champions and they are Gch Pruittville’s Gardenia 91VEEE and CH Pruittville’s LG Lantana 88VEVV.     His dam, CH Pruittville’s Magnolia 92EEEE is one of our favorite does who has won many Best Doe In Show Awards.  Magnolia is amazing! So strong on her feet and legs, even though she will be 12 years old in March of 2013.  Magnolia has also done well at the National Shows.  She was the 11thplace 2 year old, 6th place 4 year old and 4th place Aged doe at 7 years old and again 3rd place, 3rd udder at the 2010 Nationals as a 9 year old.  Please see Magnolia’s page and Legend’s pages (under reference bucks) for more information.

DOB: 5/11/2003 Deceased

Legend was very long, tall and level.  He was very upstanding in the front end and walked with outstanding width between the hocks, having a very high and wide escutcheon.  He had good spring of rib and excellent Nubian breed character.

His dam, SGCH Pruittville’s Huckleberry 3*M 92EEEE was one our favorite does who has won BDIS numerous times and also was the 3rd place 4 year old and the 5th place 5&6 year old at the ’03 and ’04 National Show.   His sire, Tornado was owned by our friend, Allen Cunningham.  Tornado was line bred on CH Flora Farm Clover who was the dam of GCH +*B Heatherwood’s Clovers Saint, a buck who has greatly influenced our herd.  Other great bucks in his pedigree are Flora Farm Padrone, Flora Farm Crockett (maternal brother to Saint), GCH C/F Pan and Bar-W Santana J.  Inbreeding on this buck is 11.47% on Cadillac style Nubians.

Legend’s daughter, CH Pruittville’s Sweet Gardenia  appraised 91VEEE as a 4 year old and has a final score of 90VEEE..  Another daughter, CH Pruittville’s LG Lantana was the 6th place Senior kid at the ’06 National Show.  Lantana freshened with an outstanding mammary and has a first freshener’s score of 87VVVV (dry) and as a second freshner she appraised 88VEVV.  At the 2010 Nationals, Lantana was 17th in her class after a difficult bout with liver flukes and mastitis.  Another daughter, Sultana appraised EC as a junior doeling and was 10th place in her class at the 08 Nationals and has freshened with a very nice udder.  Legend has become another one of our proven herd sires whose offspring we are very pleased with.

It is hard to talk about Doctor Luke in past tense.  He was a very large buck who excelled in strength of general appearance being long and level over the top line, very smoothly blended throughout.  He had tremendous width across the loin and over the rump. He had great spring of rib, excellent shoulders, coupled with great dairy character and beautiful breed character. He was also very wide and open in the escutcheon.    At nearly 8 years of age, Doctor Luke was a very powerful buck who still stood with great strength of feet and legs and excellent rear leg angulation.  With his great depth of pedigree, he was everything you would want in a buck, and especially so, since his daughters are freshening with beautiful mammaries and excellent conformation.

His sire *B Price O The Field Luke produced two National Reserve Grand Champions and many other champion daughters.  POTF Luke’s dam, Gch Price O The Field Lizzie won many Best doe in Show and Best Udder awards. At the 1982 Nationals she was reserve best udder and placed 3rd in her class.  Doctor Luke’s dam, GCH POTF Dutch Belle 5*M won many BDIS and BOB awards and boy did she milk!  Dutch Belle was the grand daughter of two Reserve National Champions,  GCH Price O The Field Dutchess and GCH Price O The Field Princess.

CH*B Pruittville’s Doctor Luke has two Paternal sisters who are National Reserve Champions.  GCH Wingwood Farm Luke Tamaulipas 2*M – 1999 Res. National. Champion and CH Price O The Field Lady Regina  92EEEE who was the 1998 Res. National Champion and 2000 and 2001 Res. Best Udder.

We are very proud of Luke’s accomplishments.  His daughters excell in general appearance and have lovely dairy character.  Luke consistently stamps his style with beautiful wide, level rumps and lots of height in the escutcheon.  Most have lovely breed character and those coveted high and wide rear udders.  You get it all with this buck!  One of his daughters, CH Pruittville’s Magnolia 92EEEE has been Best Doe In Show many times and won a INBA Nubian Specialty Show.   At the National show, Magnolia was 6th place 5 & 6 year old, 4th place as a 7 year old and 3rd place 9 year old.  Another daughter, SGCH Pruittville’s Honeysuckle 92EEEE also has several BDIS awards.  She was 11th place 2 year old and 2nd place as a 4 year old at the Nationals.  Pruittville’s Applesauce appraised 90VEVE.   These three daughters made up the 5th place Senior Get Of Sire for Doctor Luke at the 2006 National Show. Needless to say, we are very blessed  to have owned this buck!

When I purchased Mr. Goodbar, I was not even in the market for a new buck until I saw Godiva in the Blissberry Herd Brochure.  This powerhouse of a doe is a beautiful example of the Nubian breed with milk records to go with it.  She simply took my breath away. With 3 appraisal scores of Excellent 92 and 3 DHIA records of 4,000 pounds or thereabout, I felt this doe put it all together.   It only added more flair to his potential genetics to have been sired by a son of the beautiful doe, GCH Kastdemur’s Santa Cruz 10*M EX 92EEEE.   Linebred on ++*B Silver Thistles Dusty Conquest, Mr. Goodbar is 6.24% inbred.

Mr. Goodbar is a wildly colored red spotted buck.  So far, he has been generous with spots on his kids.  He stands tall for his age and has good depth of body and excellent spring of ribs.  His topline is almost flawless and his sharp withers exemplifies his dairy character.  No worries with pasterns on this guy as he stands strong with excellent feet and legs.  We do have a couple of yearling daughters in our herd.  CH Pruittville’s Carmel Corn was 5th in the Senior Yearling Class at the 2010 Nationals and is one of our Champion does in the herd.

Special thanks to Sarah Kohen-Walberg for not only allowing me to own this buck but for also providing me the following pictures of his dam and grand dam.
